Older Puppies and Dogs Avaialble for Sale:
Many people prefer to purchase an older pup or dog to avoid the puppy phase.
Buying an older puppy or adult dog can actually have some wonderful advantages—especially for families who want an easier transition than starting with a tiny puppy.
- Personality is already showing. You have a much better idea whether the dog is calm, playful, cuddly, outgoing, or independent.
- Adult size is easier to predict. With a small breed, an older puppy gives you a clearer picture of eventual size, coat, coloring, and overall appearance.
- Often further along with potty and crate training. This can mean fewer accidents and less work during those first weeks.
- Past the most demanding baby stage. Very young puppies need frequent meals, potty breaks, supervision, and nighttime attention.
- Longer attention span. Older puppies are often easier to teach commands, routines, leash manners, and household rules.
- More vaccinations may already be completed. Depending on age, the dog may have completed much more of the initial puppy vaccination schedule.
- Temperament can be matched to the family. This is especially helpful for homes with children, older adults, or other pets.
- Still plenty of bonding ahead. Dogs don’t have to come home at 8–12 weeks old to form a strong attachment to their new family.
- You can see what you’re getting. Size, structure, coat quality, bite, temperament, and other characteristics are generally easier to evaluate as a puppy matures.
- For breeding/show prospects, maturity can provide more information. An older dog may allow a prospective owner to better evaluate physical development and temperament, although health testing and breed-specific evaluations are still important.
For someone who loves the idea of a puppy but doesn’t necessarily want the hardest part of puppyhood, an older puppy can be an excellent choice.
Maelee the Tiny, Sable AKC Yorkie $2,500
Maelee is a beautiful, tiny sable yorkie. She ended up being too small to breed, so I spayed her. She is a very good dog. She is attentive, crate trained and potty trained. She goes outside to use the bathroom. We love Maelee very mech and hate to think about letting her go, but feel she deserves a family. Pet only $2,500
Rosey the Tiny Korean Maltese $3,500
Rosey is a beautiful, tiny Korean AKC Maltese. Rosey was brought into my breeding program several years ago, unfortunately she was too small to have babies, and I had to spay her. We love Rosey but feel she deserves a loving family. Rosie is 4 pounds. Pet only $3,500 already spayed.
Mickey the loving Yorkie-$1,200
Mickey is such a great dog. He is almost two years old. He is an AKC male Yorkshire Terrier. He weighs 7 pounds and unfortunately, he is too big for my girls. He is loving, sweet and somewhat timid. He is crate trained and goes outside to use the bathroom. He is up to date with shots and vet checked. He would make an excellent companion for an older person or a family with children. Pet only $1,200
